Effective 28 October 2024, the Australian Federal Government has implemented new regulations requiring all Australian telecommunication providers to block devices that are unable to make emergency calls.
As a result, incompatible devices will be blocked from the Optus network. Affected devices will not be able to make or receive calls, send or receive SMS, or use mobile data while connected to the Optus mobile network.
